A bi-lingual MelatiSite brochure site with enquiries and order placement.

All internationalisation is done within the database, all java code, HTML, Javascript and CSS is common between the Engish and French versions.

The client

Rimauresq is one of the enterprises run by the Wemyss family estate.

Our brief

  • To support the two languages, allowing them to diverge in content and form whilst maintaining common architecture.

  • To design a visually attractive site, install it within a content management system

  • To enable users to send enquiries and simple email orders.

How the brief was met

Using existing photographic matrials and custom graphics the design was created and converted to html from Word.

The page content was entered into a Melati database.

The middleware is written in Java, using Melati, and the Webmacro Templating engine. The site is hosted on a PanEris Linux server.

The client

Wemyss Vintage Malts is one of the enterprises run by the Wemyss family estate.

Our brief

  • To design a visually attractive site, install it within a content management system and also to enable users to send enquiries and simple email orders.

The client

The Oxford University Begbroke Science Park is an incubator for commercial spin out of academic research done by the university.

Our brief

  • To build a flexible content management system, install and populate it.

  • To design a look and feel which complemented existing print materials.

  • To train and support Begbroke staff in maintaining the site.

How the brief was met

Working closely with the administration staff the graphic design was closely fitted to existing print media.

Content was collated in a custom Melati database.

The middleware is written in Java, using Melati, and the Webmacro Templating engine. The site is hosted on a SuSE Linux server.

The client

Bibliomania.com offer free Online Literature with more than 2000 Classic Texts, fully indexed.

Our brief

  • To build a fully searchable database of thousands of out-of-copyright texts.

  • To support users reading these texts with ecommerce, messageboards and study guides.

  • To allow Bibliomania staff to fully maintain the system.

How the brief was met

The existing texts were paginated, indexed and encached using a custom built database.

Working with Januzzi Smith, we developed an innovative DHTML user interface, allowing rapid access to a vast amount of information.

Following launch in October 2000, we are working closely with the customer to build new features into the site such as Messageboards and Ecommerce.

The middleware is written in Java, using Melati, and the Webmacro Templating engine. The site is hosted on a Red Hat Linux server.

What the Press Said

  • The Daily Telegraph (09 July 2001) - Everyone should add this site to their list of favourites. It is a model website. Fast, clean and clear, it provides a free reference resource that would take up yards of shelf space if acquired in paper, as well as several miles of classic fiction, from Samuel Hopkins Adams all the way through to Anon.
  • The Oxford Times (03/03/2001) - Bibliomania, set up in 1994 by book-lover Mr Anthony Freeman, offers free access to the world?s greatest literature.
  • Times Educational Supplement (08/12/2000) - If you?re interested in getting something for nothing, go to www.bibliomania.com.
  • The Times (11/11/2000) - Soon it won?t be that necessary to go to a library to check that 16th-century quotation - all you will have to do is search a site like www.bibliomania.com.

The client

FTC365.com sell revision material for accountancy exams to a worldwide audience.

Our brief

  • To build a secure download system for multimedia revision material.

  • To enable users to purchase further material.

  • To enable ftc365 staff to fully administer the system.

How the brief was met

A database was built to store information about products and users.

A secure download system was built in order to prevent material being downloaded without being purchased.

We trained and worked closely with FTC365's designers to integrate their front end graphics and html into templates so the site can be easily amended.

The middleware is written in Java, using Melati, and the Webmacro Templating engine. The site is hosted on a Red Hat Linux server.

JammyJoes.com sell educational and fun toys.

Our brief

  • To build a secure ecommerce site selling over 1000 products.

  • To build a stock tracking system.

  • To provide ongoing technical support.

How the brief was met

A database was build to store information about products and stock.

The shopping trolley was linked to Secure Trading to enable ecommerce.

The customer's graphics design was integrated into the dynamic pages.

The middleware is written in Java, using Melati, and the Webmacro Templating engine. The site is hosted on a Red Hat Linux server.

The client

Finsbury is a consultancy advising international companies on their communications with the global financial community.

Our brief

  • To build a client facing website to provide an online presence for Finsbury Ltd.

  • To provide Finsbury's clients with an intranet, facilitating better communication using messageboards and document archives.

How the brief was met

A database was built to store information about users and clients.

Paneris produced a 'clean' design and integrated this into the database.

Training was given for use of the system.

The middleware is written in Java, using Melati, and the Webmacro Templating engine. The site is hosted on a Red Hat Linux server.


Roxton Bailey Robinson Worldwide

The client

Roxton Bailey Robinson Worldwide is a British based, specialist travel company with particular expertise in Africa and the Indian Ocean. They are also known as leaders in the provision of the finest game fishing around the globe.

Our brief

  • To provide an online brochure to attract new business

  • To provide a platform to launch the company into the US market

  • To provide a useful, interactive experience for users through effective targetting of information to individuals with an emphasis being placed on the provision of information rather than 'visual novelties'

  • To ensure that the site may be regularly updated

  • To promote the site as effectively as possible through search engines

  • To complement the existing company identity

  • To establish a web site which will expand along with the company both in terms of new products and future objectives

  • Initially launch with key fishing destinations in March 2000 with subsequent destinations holiday themes to follow

Our response:

Sample pages were produced to complement a written proposal which explained in detail how each of the above objectives would be met.

On approval of these visuals a dummy site was provided which the client could navigate to get a better feel for how the final site would work. This was complemented by a more detailed Functional and Technical Specification.

The site was given an initial soft-launch in early March 2000 with key fishing destinations and work is ongoing building additional fishing destinations into the system.

Back-end edit systems have been provided using PanEris developed Java Servlets (see: Melati) which enable the client to maintain and update information on the site while simultaneously mailing selected information (ie: latest fishing reports) to registered users.

The client

PFE Express Ltd are Shipping Agents and Freight Forwarders based in Chelmsford, Essex, UK.

Our brief

  • We were invited by AirFlow Design Studios, designers of the PFE Express website, to build a modern, web-based database system to track Orders and Shipments, and to integrate this into the existing website.

How the brief was met

Analysis of an existing Windows-based package, the creation of a generic order tracking system and communicating with AirFlow Design using the Paneris Messageboards before meeting with the end client enabled a minimum of face to face contact.

This was our first whole site to be constructed using our own DataDictionary System through Java Servlets and Webmacro templates on top of postgres/Linux.

Both AirFlow Design and the client were delighted with this leading-edge application and further enhancements are planned for 2000.


The Museum of Army Flying

The client

The Museum of Army Flying is based at an airfield in Middle Wallop (Southern UK).

Our brief

  • To build a simple and effective site that will inform visitors and encourage people to visit the museum.

  • To raise the profile of the Museum's main event "Music in the Air"

How the brief was met

Mike Cunningham built an excellent design based on photos of the museum's aircraft, and dispensing with their current designed material.

Tim Joyce then built and implemented the site.

The site was completed in a rushed timescale of 2 weeks, and hit budget (£2200) exactly.

We are already recieving favourable comments (one day after launch):

The client

Iglu.com are a Specialist Ski Travel Agent who's business and information systems are primarily web based.

Our brief

  • To build an exciting interface to a database containing 3000 Ski Chalets, Bulletin Boards, a Booking System (including ecommerce), Shortlists, Newsletters, and Weather Reports.

  • To build a web based management system for managing all of Iglu.com's Data, including Telephone Call Tracking, Promotions Management and Newsletter Management

How the brief was met

The site is the largest online ski accomodation booking site in the world. It offers customers a range of services from search and booking to bulletin boards and newsletter subscription; and it provides the company with a turnkey solution encompassing content management, customer tracking, call management and e-commerce.

Working to a tight deadline of 9 weeks, 4 Paneris developers worked closely with APR and Iglu.com to create the system for a fixed price in seven weeks.

The middleware is all written in Perl, and uses a Template technology developed by us with this project in mind. The site is hosted on NT.

Iglu.com was delivered 3 days early and has received rave reviews on Sky News and in the Financial Times.

At the request of the client, the project management page is not currently available to the public.

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc

Paneris Involvement Finished 08/2000

The client

Bloomsbury Publishing PLC are a leading independent publisher of quality literature. Recent publications include Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. Bloomsbury (in partnership with Microsoft) will soon be publishing The Encarta World English Dictionary

Our brief

  • To build an ecommerce system that allows customers to purchase any of Bloomsbury's 1500 recent publications.

  • To raise the profile of Bloomsbury and the Books they publish.

How the brief was met

Paneris members built a simple and effective interface to Bloomsbury's database of books, and provided hardware and software to allow the data to be entered.

The site includes competitions, sneak previews, and other interactive mechanism that allow Bloomsbury to build a valuable mailing list.

On launch, the site received a number of awards, including "Yell: choice of the week".

The middleware is all written in Perl, which allowed Bloomsbury to easily migrate from Unix to NT when they needed to.

At the request of the client, the project management page is not currently available to the public.


PanLogic

The client

This site was developed for a London-based online marketing company.

Our brief

  • This was a corporate site that was created in Flash, as an enhanced version of their existing HTML site. The information was presented in a readically different way, like a 'kiosk'. The navigation was spread across the page like a glossary of terms, while the more typical navbar can be seen along the bottom. Use of animation, sound and sophisticated scripting made this a 'bells and whistles' site for information that would otherwise be difficult to convey in an exciting, cutting-edge way.

How the brief was met

The site was completed within a month.

The client

This site was done for the hell of it!

Our brief

  • The designer, Daniel Hart, took a Ted Hughes poem, "Hawk Roosting" with the intention of making a 'promo' - rather like a music video, but one which was intended to enhance the meaning of the words and imagery; the typography dances, juts and glides to echo the action represented in the poem.

How the brief was met

The site was created with Flash4 and weighs in at 320K for the full download. The site was completed within twenty four hours!

The client

The Corps of Commissionaires is a large organisation for ex military and police personel. They supply a range of security and other services.

Our brief

  • To build a web site that reflects the Corps' complicated range of services.

  • To give the Corps a modern and professional web presence.

How the brief was met

Giles Thompson built an excellent design based on extensive discussions with the client.

Tim Joyce then built and implemented the site.

The site was given extra sparkle by Daniel Hart who created a Flash entry page.

We hit the budget (£3000) exactly.

Cornwall Eclipse

The client

This site was developed in conjunction with some major scale events that were scheduled for the Eclipse event in cornwall in August 99.

Our brief

  • To raise awareness of the three-day spectacular and present the concerts with a sense of style fitting to both the Eclipse and the sophistication of the events country house in which it was to be held.

How the brief was met

The PR company liased with several members of PanEris, the project managers Giles Thompson and Tim Joyce and the designer Daniel Hart.

The site was completed within the timescale, over a period of roughly a month.
